About Us
Tamar Trading Building Supplies is an independent, family-owned and managed firm of builders merchants which has been supplying building materials, timber and landscaping supplies across Devon and Cornwall for more than 60 years. We have three South West branches, located in Holsworthy, Torrington and Bodmin, which each stock over 20,000 product lines, catering for all of your building needs. We also offer bespoke joinery at our Holsworthy branch and have two inspirational kitchen and bathroom showrooms at our Torrington and Bodmin stores.
We opened our first builders merchants branch in Holsworthy at Sawmills Yard in the late 1950s supplying building materials to the construction and agricultural sectors in Torridge and North Devon. As a busy building materials supplier and timber merchants, we take pride in our ability to meet customer requirements as swiftly and efficiently as we can. Our company ethic is to go one step further in order to ensure that we meet our customers requirements wherever possible. We are always happy to help.
Time to expand
The company expanded by opening a new branch in Torrington which supplied direct to trade and retail customers across North and Mid Devon, further growing our customer base and allowing us to accommodate builders needs as they moved from site to site across the county. As well as trading as builders’ merchants, our Torrington branch is also home to our original Kitchen and Bathroom Showroom where we have an extensive display showcasing the latest and most popular ranges and products from some of the UK’s leading manufacturers. A free kitchen and bathroom design service is also available.
Trading in Cornwall
In 2014, Tamar Trading opened its first building materials store in Cornwall on the Cooksland Industrial Estate in Bodmin. Our experienced team have since been kept very busy ensuring builders across the Duchy receive the building materials they require on time and at the best possible prices.
Stylish new Kitchen and Bathroom Showroom
Our latest development is the opening of our Bodmin Kitchen and Bathroom Showroom in autumn 2016, a state of the art facility showcasing both modern kitchens and bathrooms as well as traditional designs, which provides inspiration for our visitors and customers. The store illustrates what customers might achieve in their own homes when re-modelling or upgrading their bathroom or kitchen. Pop into our Bodmin branch on Cooksland Industrial Estate to see for yourself and to try our free kitchen and bathroom design service, you won’t be disappointed!
Delivery Vehicles
We have our own fleet of lorries and vans located at each branch. This enables us to deliver materials direct to sites across North and West Devon and most of Cornwall, with a next day delivery service for most stocked items: from loft insulation and roofing sheets to decking, fencing and block paving. Our delivery drivers are friendly and professional and take pride in accommodating customer requirements wherever and whenever possible.

The team here at Tamar Trading are drawn from all over Devon and Cornwall and collectively have an excellent working knowledge of building materials and their applications. They have developed their knowledge over many years, working both within our organisation and in skilled building trades.
